An "old-timer" told me that original strawberry rhubarb pies didn't have strawberries in them. Strawberry rhubarb was the name given to a particular variety of rhubarb because of it's pinkish color. This makes perfect sense since strawberries and rhubarb don't share the same season!
Nevertheless...I harvested an armload of rhubarb this morning and have strawberries in the freezer. The first of many non-historically correct strawberry rhubarb pies will be available this week!
