Festive Foods, Inc.
Festive Foods, Inc. is a new business started November 2011 in connection with Nichols Top of the Hill Grill & BBQ, the Nichols family restaurant located in New Sharon, Maine.
Owner Lorna Dee Nichols and her family: son Scott, daughter Kate, and daughter-in-law Michele, opened the restaurant in June of 2011. Since then, they have served thousands of customers – many of whom have purchased their homemade BBQ sauces as a take-out item. With the realization that the sauces were unique and very popular, Lorna set about putting Festive Foods, Inc. into operation.
The family currently offers 10 BBQ sauces and 1 hot sauce (used in the restaurant for their buffalo wings). There are currently 2 more sauces in the works, Cranberry and Mango/Pineapple, and they hope to expand even further with other items. Maine ingredients are used in many of the sauces - such as the Maine Blueberry Chipotle, Maine Maple Chipotle, Smokey Apple and the soon to be released Cranberry.
In addition to the restaurant and Festive Foods, Inc., Lorna has also launched an off-premise catering business, Nichols Road Hog Catering, which is now booking for 2012. The catering business offers full service catering with many of the restaurant’s popular menu items – or can be customized to meet the individual tastes of their clients. They even plan to include whole and half-pig roasts!
Lorna believes in supporting other local small businesses and invites local farms and producers to contact her about products that could be used in any of the three businesses: Nichols Top of the Hill Grill & BBQ, Festive Foods, Inc., and Nichols Road Hog Catering.
Lorna grew up in Bean’s Corner, Jay, Maine, and has lived in New Sharon, where she and husband Scott raised their children Scott and Katelyn, since 1986.
