Vicuña Chocolate is an artisanal bean-to-bar chocolate maker located in Peterborough, NH. Vicuña specializes in crafting single-origin dark chocolate bars from just two ingredients: ethically-sourced, hand-sorted cacao beans and pure cane sugar. The result? An incredibly pure, complex dark chocolate in the South American tradition.

OUR STORY
The Vicuña Chocolate Factory is one of New England's only bean-to-bar chocolate makers that is proudly locally owned and operated.

Founder Neely Cohen has worked as a pastry chef, chocolatier, and bean-to-bar chocolate maker in the United States, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. She has harvested and roasted cacao in the Amazon jungle and taught thousands how to make chocolate from scratch.

A graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute, Neely Cohen has trained under renowned pastry chef Pichet Ong, cooked at the James Beard House, and has had the honor of making dessert for Vice President Joe Biden. In 2012, she earned national acclaim after winning Food Network's Sweet Genius reality baking competition.

In the fall of 2014 Ms. Cohen opened The Vicuña Chocolate Factory and developed her own recipe for seriously good bean-to-bar chocolate, requiring only two simple ingredients; raw cocoa beans and organic cane sugar. At the end of 2016, Ms. Cohen decided she was ready for the next adventure and offered the business for sale.

Nate Morison and Casey Goodrich, both age 17, purchased the business from Ms. Cohen in July of 2017. Nate Morison of Peterborough was excited for another challenge as a young entrepreneur and teamed up with his friend Casey Goodrich of Hancock to own and grow a fabulous local enterprise. Eager to involve family, the venture has grown to involve Nate's parents, uncle, and sister as well as Casey's parents, making for a true family business.

Casey Goodrich and Nate Morison look forward to growing the business further and continuing to make some of New England's finest artisanal chocolate locally in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
