Heirloom Gravenstein apples
Menu Group: Food
Section: Fruits and Berries
Vendor: Rasmussen Farm
Apples from an ancient tree on our property, recently identified as Gravenstein. We never spray our apples or any of our produce. ~5 apples per lb. We love them for fresh eating, pies, and applesauce. Not cosmetically perfect, but pretty good-looking for unsprayed apples.
Fedco says: "Tender crisp aromatic richly flavored juicy firm tart flesh. Outstanding eating and cooking. Rated “very good to best” by Beach in Apples of New York.... Thin tender skin, striped with yellow, red and orange."
