New Order Pick-up Options:
Rangeley and Fairbanks
Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, we are once again able to offer order pick-up in Rangeley and are now able to offer pick-up at Fairbanks Farmstand!

For Rangeley, Sidney will pick up orders in Farmington on Fridays, drive them up to Rangeley, and arrange to meet with customers there.

For Fairbanks Farmstand, Josie will have orders available for pick-up from the back of the farmstand at 887 Fairbanks Road in Farmington from 3-8 pm on Fridays.

To pick up in Farmington on a Friday after the farmers' market closes but before orders are officially available at the farmstand or LEAP, check with Deborah at 207-860-0703 or info@westernmainemarket.com, and we should be able to accommodate.

Please note that Friday deliveries run later in the day May through October than during our winter schedule - in the range of 2-5.
p.m. If you let us know about schedule constraints, we can do our best to work around them.

(78-I) OP Dr. Carolyn Male, tomato specialist, researcher, and editor of Off the Vine, has obtained seed from an old strain of Brandywine that she believes to be the sweetest and creamiest of all. The fruits are a rich red with an orange undertone. Fruits are 12-16 oz. Very productive and more heat tolerant than other strains.

When I first started looking for "no nonsense" paste tomatoes Hogheart was still being selected, here in Maine, for earliness and crack free shoulders. These are huge, often 12 oz! They can make twin fruits, really heart shaped! Excellent flavor.

(70-I) OP An old-fashioned slicer saved in Irkutsk, Siberia. Garnet red outside and red to chestnut brown on the inside. Oval fruits sometimes crack in rings on the top, but they are so tender and sweet that it doesn't matter a bit. One of our favorite salad tomatoes.

(73-I) OP This tomato came from New Zealand with the sheep farmer who went to England to claim his title as the 7th Earl of Edgecombe! Round fruits are firm, smooth, and defect free, with a well-balanced sweet/tart flavor. One of our favorites. Frequently a Common Ground Fair Blue Ribbon for us ...AND they are a favorite for salads!
