Aronia Berries

.
Vendor: Whitehill Farm
.
Certified Organic! Aronia Berries picked fresh on August 22nd and frozen for smoothies or pies!
Aronia, also known as Chokeberry, is native to N. America and thrives in our area! The shrubs are decorative, sturdy, virtually disease free and not attractive to insect pests. The flavor of aronia is rich and robust and similar to the flavor of black currants. Makes a good addition to smoothies, and for jams, jellies, and pies (recipe included)!

Aronia is rich in antioxidants, matching or exceeding the medicinal value of elderberries. Historically Native Americans used aronia to fight infections. The black berries and their juice will stain so protecting surfaces is essential!
Purple Plums
Menu Group: Food
Section: Fruits and Berries
Category: Plums
.
Vendor: Porter Hill Farm
.
Juicy Purple plums. Purple when fully ripe or over ripe. Best when still red/yellow - still sweet and less prone to softening as they are when over ripe. Sprayed only at pedal fall with a kaolin spray to discourage the plum curculio.
Most need a few days on your window sill to ripen fully, but are edible now if you like them more tangy.

A mix of cherry tomatoes: Grown naturally in our greenhouse - no spray, and nothing synthetic touches these tasty cherry tomatoes.
Red, Pink, Orange, and White.

Heirloom quality slicing tomatoes: These hybrids like Martha Washington, Damsel, and Abigail are pink and very tasty like Brandywine, but have better disease resistance with less "cat-facing" (cracking and stem scarring) than the classic Brandywine. Our Striped German is a true heirloom - yellow with striking red streaking of the skin and interior.

Salad Tomatoes - Red Mt. Magic, and Orange Clementine: Larger than a cherry, smaller than a slicing tomato.

Sun Peach Cherry Tomatoes: Better than Sun Gold? How could that be! Yes, as sweet with a slightly different tomato sweetness, and much less prone to splitting. Related to Sun Gold
