Possums, Produce, and Pure Joy!
We had a little visitor this week, and it was quite the character! Our latest critter in the cage was a very handsome possum. I was a bit hesitant to let him out at first, but the moment I picked up the cage, he immediately played dead. Once I opened the door, he quickly scurried away! It was quite a funny little performance.

The future of our farming season might be a little hazy right now, but we're focusing on the bright side!. We have lettuce seedlings to transplant, and seeds that should be planted for September and October but with this dry spell none of it is possible. It's just too hot and dry to keep new seedlings and seeds happy, and we can't exactly ask the sun to take a break!

But here's the best part: the crops already in the ground are thriving and giving us so much to be thankful for.

Our vine crops have a nice amount of fruits set, we have the green beans just starting to produce, red cabbage is ready, and it looks like by next week we will start offering paste tomatoes.

We have rows of Bolero and Napoli carrots growing for the fall, and beet that are taking their time to form roots. The heat is probably a factor but we're rooting for them!

The herbs are absolutely loving the sunshine. We have a fresh batch of dill joining our bountiful basil, sage, parsley, and cilantro.

Our gladiolus are also reaching for the sky, and we're excitedly waiting for those gorgeous blooms to burst open. If you want to brighten your home with some of our mixed-color glads when they're ready, just let us know in your order notes or send an email. They'll be a steal at just $1.50 each!

That's the farm news for this week! We're so incredibly grateful for all of you who choose to eat local and support our little farm. Every bit of sunshine and every drop of rain feels a little more special knowing we're growing food for you.
