Our gladiolus bed is quickly becoming a sea of color, with a beautiful peachy-pink variety being the first to open. The hummingbirds are loving them, especially now that the bee balm is starting to die back.

The asters are also beginning to bloom, and they're one of my favorite flowers. Their vibrant colors are hard to match in other annuals, and they last a long time in bouquets.

This week, our top picks are red cabbage, filet green beans, Sunrise sauce tomatoes, and the last of this season's cauliflower. We're also offering specials on slicing cucumbers for anyone who wants to make pickles.

We thought we'd lucked out and avoided the tomato hornworms this season, but we discovered some Saturday. They were surprisingly big, which was disappointing since I thought I'd been doing a good job looking for signs of them. Fortunately, they were only found on the uncovered tomatoes outside of the hoop house.

To prevent the hornworm moths from entering the hoop house, we lined the bottom sides with light fabric. This keeps them out while still allowing for good airflow. So far, I'd say it's working!

This morning we are removing our six raccoon from the farm. It's a big fat one, looks like he has been eating well.

It looks like we will not be returning to the South Paris Farmers Market this season and will continue delivering on Thursdays.

Deliveries will be between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, with a central drop-off point at the South Paris Library at 11:00 AM.
