Bulbs, Roots and Tree Fruits
Our apples are ready to harvest; these round fruits with a red blush are the perfect size to enjoy your daily apple. All of the onion varieties are sizing up and are ready to begin harvesting, and we have listed a mixed variety offering for those of you who might not be familiar with each type. Full-size beets are also listed, which make for easier peeling and handling than the baby beets. We like to roast ours until they are fork-tender, at which point the skins slip right off.

Our zucchini, Valencia tomatoes, and cucumbers are the problem crops currently. While the plants look healthy, they just are not producing abundantly, though we have listed a limited few in hopes that they will produce better this week. On the other hand, the Bolero carrots are at a good size, and taste tests confirm their excellent quality in both texture and flavor.

Lots of flowers are blooming in the garden this week, including a salmon-colored Sweet William, Drumstick (which is a yellow ball flower), and strawflowers, which are producing abundantly. Our annual blue delphiniums are blooming wonderfully, though I have mixed feelings about them. While the color is gorgeous in bouquets, the mess from the dropping petals is not my favorite thing. We will continue to add them to bouquets, but let us know how you feel about them.

Enjoy the week, eat well, and take in the beauty of the season.

A quick note on availability:
Please keep in mind that we’ve cut back on our vegetable production this year, so many of our items are limited! The quantities listed are our best estimates of what we expect to harvest. Mother Nature loves surprises, so sometimes we end up with a little more, and sometimes a little less than expected. We appreciate your understanding and support!.
