The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival Approaches!
Dover Cove Farmers Market, is on the roster this weekend, at the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival. We are excited to be included in the festivities! It is the sweetest day in Maine! Come on over and balance out the sweetness with some fresh local produce, meats, cheeses, maple syrup, and honey. If you are going to be tied up at the festival all day, place your order early, and it will be waiting for you at 10AM. Celebrate the official treat of Maine, and support your local farmers, at the same time. The festival proper runs from 10:00am to 3:00pm, in Downtown Dover-Foxcroft. Festivities begin before the official opening of the festival with the Piscataquis Regional YMCA’s Earn Your Whoopie Pie 3K Fun Run and Kids 1k. This year, along with crafters, vendors, kids games and attractions, and 1000’s of whoopie pies the Festival will feature live music throughout the day. Performers include the Steve Jones Band, String Field Theory, and the Monson Jammers.
"I Love Farmers Markets" Campaign from American Farmland Trust
We are now listed on the USDA's Nationwide Farmers Market Map. This listing automatically qualifies the Market Place and the Farmers' Market to participate in the "I love Farmers Markets" campaign. Basically you pledge to spend 10 dollars at your local market each week. Not a lot of money, but a lot of product for your spending. The beauty of this pledge is that you aren't sending money away to anyone, you are paying it directly to the farmer, for their product. The pledge helps American Farmland Trust to gather information for marketing, and funding Farmers Markets nationwide. You also get a free "No Farms, No Food" bumper sticker each time that you make a pledge. You can pledge daily or weekly, but we encourage you to pledge often, as it reflects on federal monies available for making our Farmers Market a better one for all of us! Make your pledge at:
