Peaches
Menu Group: Food
Section: Fruits and Berries
Category: Peaches
Vendor: Fairbanks Farmstand & Nursery
Oh so delicious! I am harvesting at the first signs of ripeness. The quarts are packed full because I did not have the heart (or time) to thin the fruit, and so they are a bit smaller than previous years. They are just as sweet as ever. To be honest, I thought peaches were pretty gross until a neighbor in New Zealand left a bag full for me as a house warming present. I realized that I had never ever had an actually ripe peach of a backyard peach tree, just tins of sugared up slices in grade school and maybe a fresh one or two, but nothing like I experienced from that house warming gift. My Maine peaches are pretty darn good too.
