We Grow Organically
As our customer base and followers increase,I felt it was time to mention the methods and practices we use in growing our fruits, vegetables and flowers.

The fertilizers, soil amendments and compost we use are organic. We use Protek net for pest control on crops such as potatoes, kale, collards, crucifer and vine crops and hand pick pests if needed. We do not use fungicides or insecticides and feel fortunate to say; due to the healthiness of our crops that we have never felt the need to consider them. We have used Sluggo in the past, but I am not fully convinced it works. Hunting for slugs routinely is our method of control.

The amendments we use are azomite, bone char, borax, granite meal, gypsum, k-mag, epsom salt, limestone, alfalfa meal, soybean meal, fertrell planting mix, and compost from Benson Farms in Gorham, Maine.

We do till or harrow when necessary but use a broadfork to work the soil once we have garden beds established. We mulch our walkways and top dress the planted beds with compost to reduce weed growth.

We do have weeds that grow, and they seem to sprout up and grow faster than the crops or so it seems. Some people can accept weeds and feel they are just natural plants that grow where they are not wanted, but that is not for this gardener and so I fight the battle and weed.
Crops to Harvest
This week out of our beautiful garden we have Early Jersey Wakefield cabbages, orange caulifower, Bolero and Mokum carrots, shell peas along with mixed greens and small amounts of a few other crops..
