As the days grow shorter the list of things we want to accomplish seems to grow longer.

We are still deep into preserving our harvest and the garden is producing a lot right now. Two more peach trees are producing, cantaloupe and watermelon are at the top of the list today to take care of, a bag of paste tomatoes are ripe and will not hold much longer, celery needs to be picked and cut up, and preserving greens keep getting pushed out. Maybe tomorrow we will get to them. ?

I definitely would prefer more time in the garden enjoying the outdoors than slicing and dicing food each morning.

We are done planting for this season, shooting to prep more beds to be ready in the spring. We have been watering more of the garden this week as it has not rained, I am not complaining about that! We have had a couple beautiful weeks of good weather to enjoy.

Minuet napa cabbage and Caraflex green cabbages will be harvested this week and we are offering special pricing on carrots to go with them. Spinach, kale and lettuce crops are all producing now and this week asters will be in the bouquets. I think they will go nicely with the dahlias and zinnias.

The sunflowers left unpicked are now beautiful heads full of seeds that are calling back the birds to the garden. Yellow finches, tufted titmouse, bluejays, and chickadees are the main visitors whenever the hawk is away.

Four more weeks to attend the South Paris Farmers Market, but we will keep selling as long as the garden is producing. If you have not been to the market you may want to plan a visit, last count we had eighteen vendors that offer a wide array of produce and other products, plus Oxford Hills Mercantile is putting out seasonal decoration on display.
